Grocery closings
Over the past 20 years, several large grocery stores in Cape Girardeau have shut down: Kroger, 2001 Independence, closed in 1982. Storey's Food Giant closed at 201 S. Broadview in 1991. Del Farm, a store in the National Grocery chain, closed at 121 N. Sprigg in 1995...Over the past 20 years, several large grocery stores in Cape Girardeau have shut down:

Del Farm, a store in the National Grocery chain, closed at 121 N. Sprigg in 1995.
Shop 'n Save, 254 S. Silver Springs Rd., closed in 1996 after being built in 1991.
Mr. K's Food Center, once the Shop 'n Save on Silver Springs Road, was closed in 1999. That building was recently purchased by a church.
