The Cape Central girls soccer team opened its season with a dramatic 2-1double-overtime victory over St. Vincent. Following a corner kick, Allie McGinty scored the winning goal three minutes into the second overtime off a pass from Emily Morris.

Central 107, Oakville 80

Terra Herzberger won two individual events and swam on a winning relay team as Cape Girardeau Central (2-5) defeated Oakville in a dual.

Herzberger won the 100 and 200 freestyles and also helped the medley relay to victory. In winning in 2:04.76, the relay team of Cassie Kipper, Brett Ford, Herzberger and Katie Maginel trimmed four seconds off its best time and is less than a second from the state-qualifying cut.
