Wesley T. Haertling, 61, of Lansing, Kan., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert and Anita Leimbach Haertling. Haertling was a supply and procurement officer at Dwight D. Wesley T. Haertling, 61, of Lansing, Kan., died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

He was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert and Anita Leimbach Haertling.

Haertling was a supply and procurement officer at Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan. He was named Employee of the Year in 1998.

He served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including three tours in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, retiring as a master sergeant.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Haertling of St. Charles, Mo., Duane Haertling of St. Joseph, Mo.; his mother of Jackson, Mo.; two sisters, Lavanda Perr and Ethyl Priest of Jackson; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.

Friends may call at Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home in Leavenworth from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Medical Center. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery, with full military honors.
