An East St. Louis man pleaded guilty Thursday to leading police on a low-speed chase through Cape Girardeau last week.

Qurshan L. Wallace, 28, was accused of failing to stop for authorities when they tried to pull him over for expired plates. After leading them through town he then jumped out of his still-moving car and attempted to flee on foot, police said. A police car was damaged in the chase after it was struck by Wallace's unoccupied vehicle.

In exchange for his guilty plea seven of 15 misdemeanor traffic charges against Wallace were dropped, said assistant prosecuting attorney Scott Lipke.
