POPLAR BLUFF, Mo.-- Chaffee committed nine errors on defense as it fell 12-2 to Poplar Bluff on Thursday in baseball action.

Zach Horman went 3-for-3 with a a double for Chaffee and Andrew Horrell had a triple in the effort.

Brent Thomason suffered the loss for the Devils, who dropped to 1-2.

Poplar Bluff (1-1) scored all the runs it needed in a five-run second inning.

Woodland 14, Delta 2

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Kyle Long struck out the first nine batters he faced to put the Cardinals on track early.

Alex VanGennip, who had four RBIs, and Luke Johnson each had home runs. Woodland (1-0) led 7-0 after the first inning.

Puxico 4, Bell City 3

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Ben Duncan's seventh-inning solo home run was not quite enough, as Bell City's comeback attempt fell short.

Ty Brown went 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Cubs' offense. Jason Rampley (0-1) took the loss in Bell City's season opener.

CHAFFEE. Mo. -- The Red Devils opened their season with a five-inning shutout victory.

Shannon Hampton struck out eight, walked two and allowed two hits in capturing the win.

Ashley Graham led a nine-hit Chaffee attack with three hits and two RBIs. Mallory Kiefer finished with two hits and two RBIs and Callie Meyr added two hits.

Chaffee scored in every inning but the fourth. The Devils pushed across four runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.

Erin Miinch suffered the loss for Meadow Heights.

Oran 17, Oak Ridge 7

ORAN, Mo. -- Oran took advantage of 19 walks as it defeated Oak Ridge in six innings.

Jami Post picked up the win for Oran (2-0), while Haliey Ponder suffered the loss in Oak Ridge's first game of the season.

Post and Tori St. Cin each had two hits for Oran and Teresa Hodges had a triple. Oran (1-0-1) outhit Oak Ridge 8-6.

Mindy Ruch belted a two-run homer in the first inning for Oak Ridge (0-1).

Lexi Myers tripled twice and Candice Schaeper had a double among her two hits.
