With property damage from Sunday's flash flood tentatively estimated at $2.5 to $5 million, steps have been initiated by Cape Girardeau to obtain federal disaster relief; James Houston of state's Disaster Planning and Operations Office is scheduled to arrive in city today to begin survey of damage resulting from more than seven inches of rain that fell here Sunday.

Perryville -- Newly elected sheriff of Perry County, Herbert Schlattman, is intent on reducing teen-age drinking and has taken action leading Knights of Columbus to discontinue its policy of allowing liquor to be consumed during its popular Saturday night dances; change in policy is expected to put halt to dances, which are attended mostly by persons 16 to 21 years of age; some fear it will result in teen-agers going elsewhere to do their drinking under uncontrolled circumstances.

Threat of another flood in Missouri River Basin, as announced by Army engineers, poses possibility of more high water troubles along Mississippi River in Southeast Missouri area; both Missouri and Ohio rivers have maintained fairly high stages all winter.

Adolph Hitler's personal automobile will be on exhibition in Cape Girardeau Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, announces V.F.W. post. Car is being brought here by owner, Christopher Janus, and proceeds of freewill offering will be divided between Greek Orphan Relief and V.F.W.; veterans will use their share of money to help finance new building extension; car, a Mercedes-Benz, will be exhibited on Main Street, just north of Independence.

In absence of city ordinance providing penalty for illicit possession of liquor, Prosecuting Attorney S.P. Dalton has informed Cape Girardeau Police Department that in future he will file state charges against people arrested by police in such cases; in recent Common Pleas Court decision by Judge O.A.
