CAIRO, Ill. -- Edward W. Hanna, 83, of Cairo died Friday, March 29, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Cairo, son of Albert and Anna Coury Hanna. He was the owner of Hanna Sign Co. in Cairo before his retirement. ...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Edward W. Hanna, 83, of Cairo died Friday, March 29, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Cairo, son of Albert and Anna Coury Hanna.

He was the owner of Hanna Sign Co. in Cairo before his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cairo Elks Lodge No. 651, Cairo Knights of Columbus Council 1027, Fourth Degree, and was past president of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Illinois Sign Association.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie Hanna Goodman of Winnetka, Ill.; a son, Larry Davis of Ozark, Ill.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, a son and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Ill.
