JACKSON, Mo. -- In a battle of undefeated girls' soccer teams Tuesday, Jackson allowed its first goal of the season but held on to defeat Perryville 2-1.

The Indians are 6-0 and the Pirates are 4-1.

After a scoreless first half, Jackson got goals from Molly Hartmann and Courtney Urhahn early in the second half, with assists from Dana Wright and Whitney Dietl.

Perryville came back a short while later to make it 2-1 as Anna Davis scored with an assist from Ashley Hopper. But the Pirates fell short.

"It was a good game," Jackson coach Zack Walton said. "We're happy to beat a team like Perryville."

Jackson won the JV game 2-1 behind goals from Emily Curtis and Jenny Nagel. Stacey Geringer scored for Perryville.

Notre Dame 1, Central 1

Notre Dame's Sierra Ellis scored on an assist from Amanda Dirnberger with 13 minutes to go to tie visiting Central.

Cameron Bennett's first-half goal, with Heidi Pilsner assisting, had staked Central to the early lead.

The Bulldogs are 3-1-1 and the Tigers are 4-3-1.

Notre Dame and Central battled to a 1-1 tie in the JV game. Allison Essner scored for Notre Dame and Lauren Thompson tallied for Central.

St. Pius 4, St. Vincent 0

FESTUS, Mo. -- St. Vincent remained winless at 0-3-1 after dropping its first Jefferson County Conference match.

BASEBALL

NMCC 6, Central 5

Central's comeback attempt fell just short in a loss to New Madrid County Central.

Trailing 6-0, the Tigers (3-5) rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Seth Hudson's three-run triple and Chris Conrad's run-scoring triple the key hits.

Jake Kimball picked up the win for NMCC (2-2) and helped his own cause with a three-run homer in the first inning.

Hudson led the Central offense with a 3-for-4 performance, while Kimball and Ben Pyles had two hits each for NMCC.

Central's JV (6-0) turned the tabes on NMCC with a 6-5 win. Sean Bard (3-0) got the win and Luca Presson led the offense with two hits.

Oran 20, Oak Ridge 0

ORAN, Mo. -- Oran led 18-0 after two innings and ended the contest after five innings.

Nathan Seyer had two hits and Matt Seyer three RBIs for the Eagles (4-1). Matt Seyer was the winning pitcher as he and two other hurlers combined on a three-hitter.

SOFTBALL

Oran 14, Oak Ridge 10

ORAN, Mo. -- Although outhit 10 to three, Oran (3-1-1) took advantage of 21 walks to get past Oak Ridge (1-2-1).

Jami Pobst (3-0) was the winning pitcher.

GOLF

Jackson 142, Sikeston 144, Dexter 15

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Jackson used possibly its lowest nine-hole score in school history to win a triangular meet at Bootheel Golf Club.

Jackson's 142 team total was two-under par and edged Sikeston by two strokes. The top four scores for Jackson (3-1) belonged to Kyle Perry (34), Chad Reiminger (35), Matt Litzelfelner (36) and Peyton Sims (37).

The Jackson golf program started in 1988 and coach Ron Cook said he believes it's the lowest nine-hole total by one of his teams.

"I can't find anything lower than that," Cook said.

The medalist honor belonged to Sikeston freshman E.C. Atchison, who shot a 3-under-par 33.

Jackson's JV, led by Blake McDowell (38), won with a 167 total.

Poplar Bluff 154, Central 157

Ty Gramling of Central shot a one-under-par 34 to garner medalist honors, but the Tigers (2-3) fell by three strokes to Poplar Bluff at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Ben Brumitt led the Mules with a 35.

TRACK & FIELD

Notre Dame sweeps

NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Notre Dame's boys and girls swept New madrid County Central by identical 50-point margins.

The boys, led by Tyler Cuba's personal bests in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, won 93 to 43, while the girls outscored NMCC 92 to 42. -- From staff reports
