POPLAR BLUFF -- The L.C.I. Service Center is the latest addition to Libla Communications. It opened in March in the Libla building on Highway 67 North.

"We're now authorized to do warranty work on Internationals," said Matt Winters, human resource manager. "We specialize in the semis and trailers and heavy construction equipment."

The service center has truck parts, accessories, trailer parts, hydraulic hoses, local parts delivery, International warranty service work on any make trucks and trailers, service work on construction equipment and a new truck wash.

Winters said they can get practically any part for an International truck.

The parts department manager is Dale Libla, and the service manager is Coy Humphrey. The owners are Larry and Pamela Libla.

Libla was founded in 1972 in Poplar Bluff. The original name was L&P Contractors and it concentrated on road boring.

In 1983, L&P Contractors was incorporated as Libla Communications Inc. with headquarters remaining in Poplar Bluff. The business operates in 26 states with Missouri branch offices in Wentzville, Mountain Grove and Columbia. Libla is in the process of opening an office near Ft. Wayne, Ind.

As the company has grown, it has expanded its services. It currently specializes in line construction (both buried and aerial), engineering/cad (construction inspection, cutover, mainframe and customer verifications), DLC site preparation and construction, place equipment, batteries and power-up equipment including test and turn-up, "as built" prints, right-of-way/easement acquisition, recording and surveying.

During the past two years, Libla started a material supply program that includes ordering material, warehousing the material, invoicing and transporting to a central location.

Last October, Libla Communications opened the area's first EPA-compliant, environmentally friendly truck wash.
