JACKSON, Mo. -- Linus Henderson "Pete" Statler, 82, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Jackson, son of John Henderson and Ida Hitt Statler. Statler was a self-employed farmer. JACKSON, Mo. -- Linus Henderson "Pete" Statler, 82, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Jackson, son of John Henderson and Ida Hitt Statler.

Statler was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

He served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II.

Survivors include two sisters, Cecile Wilkinson of Jackson, and Helen Wessel of Gordonville, Mo.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Dr. Brian Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with graveside service by the VFW.
