SOUTHEAST SOFTBALL TEAM LOSES 7-0 TO TENN. TECH
Southeast Missouri State University's softball team was shut out 7-0 by visiting Tennessee Tech Sunday.
The Otahkians fell to 8-21 overall and 5-9 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Tech is 25-19 and 8-3.
Lisa Lamb (11-7) allowed two hits in six innings for the victory.
Kelly Birk (3-7), who had fired a shutout against Tech Saturday, took the loss. In three innings, she allowed five hits and six runs (three earned).
Southeast had just three hits, including a double by Dawn Piantino.
The Otahkians will visit Tennessee-Martin Tuesday.
Southeast track places second, fourth in meet
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Southeast's women's track team was second while the men placed fourth over the weekend at the Mississippi State Invitational.
The women had 108 points, behind champion Southwest Missouri's 119. The men had 86 points while champion Mississippi State had 159.5.
Jay Heddell won both the shot put and discus.
Other individual winners for Southeast were Jaret Willi (pole vault), Shelton Scott (triple jump) and the women's 1,600-meter relay team of Laura Van Hoevelaak, Laquita Andrews, Lyndsey Stevenson and Hannah Stuckenschneider.
Heather Jenkins' 159-foot toss in the discus, good for second place, is just short of the school record (160-10).
Landre cards ace at Cape Girardeau C.C.
George Landre of Cape Girardeau recently carded a hole in one at Cape Girardeau Country Club.
Landre used an 8-iron to ace No. 8, a par 3 playing 145 yards. Witnesses were Brevin Giebler and Bill White Jr.
Augspurger, Schneider tie at Kimbeland event
Stephanie Augspurger and Lillian Schneider tied for medalist at the Kimbeland Ladies Golf Association's weekly outing.
Play of the Day was Drop Par 3's. Winners were Augspurger (championship flight), Dixie Jones and Sharon McCune (tie, A flight), Jo Ellen Haas (B flight) and Connie Nesslein (C flight).
