SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Rev. Rupert "Bob" Lane, 92, of Sikeston died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Center.

He was born July 12, 1909, in Anniston, Mo., son of Samuel and Ollie Lee Griffin Lane. He and Gertrude May "Gertie" Casteel were married May 22, 1928, at New Madrid, Mo.

Lane had been a minister with the General Baptist Association 35 years, and was currently minister at Elm Grove General Baptist Church in Naylor, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Maxine McGee, Mary Hailey and Barbara Bartlett, all of Sikeston; a sister, Estelle Cathey of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, two brothers, a sister, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Alan J. Wollenberg officiating. Burial will be in Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn, Mo.
