Leon Stevens

DUTCHTOWN, Mo. -- Leon L. Stevens, 81, of Dutchtown died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 2, 1920, at Delta, Mo., son of William and Rosa McIntyre Stevens. He and Hilda Stueve were married April 24, 1943.

Stevens was a lifelong resident of the Dutchtown community. He worked 38 years for Little River Drainage District, retiring as a foreman in 1985. He attended Zion Lutheran Church at Gordonville, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, James, Eugene and Leon Stevens of Cape Girardeau, Bobby Stevens of Whitewater, Mo.; a brother, Earl Stevens of Dutchtown; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Mo., from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Zych officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
