Brenda Diebold and Stephen Robert Gotter were united in marriage Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Prost performed the ceremony. Vocalists were Susan Essner of Cape Girardeau and Amy Diebold of Seattle, Wash., sister of the bride.

Parents of the couple are Morrell and Ola Mae Diebold of Cape Girardeau and Robert and Shirley Gotter of St. Louis.

Maid of honor was Amy Diebold. Bridesmaids were Mary Bell and Lisa Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, sisters of the bride; Becky Ritter and Sallie Vanderhoof of St. Louis.

Brian Gotter of O'Fallon, Ill., served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Morrison of Smyrna, Ga., Mike Walton of Ballwin, Mo., Bill Irby of Jackson, Mo., and Cary Huddleston of St. Louis. Ushers were Greg Gotter of St. Louis, brother of the groom; Brad Diebold of Fruitland, Mo., and David Diebold of Oran, Mo., brothers of the bride.

Flower girl was Mariah Strange, daughter of Keith and Rhonda Strange of Edina, Mo. Ringbearer was Dayton Seabaugh, son of Kevin and Lisa Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau.

Amy Edwards and Carmen Robinson of Cape Girardeau attended the guest book.

Following the ceremony, the reception, dinner and dance was held at Bavarian Halle in Jackson. Servers were Kari Gaskill of Millersville, Mo., and Amy Worley of Cape Girardeau.

The groom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Jan. 4 at Port Cape.

Mrs. Gotter received a bachelor of science degree in communication disorders from Southeast Missouri State University in 1994. She received a master's degree in communication sciences from Washington University in St. Louis in 1997, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in communication sciences at Washington University. She is a clinical audiologist in the Cochlear Implant Department at Washington University School of Medicine.

The groom received a bachelor of science degree in mass communications from Southeast University in 1992, and a master's degree in management from Webster University in St. Louis in 2001. He is a manager with the business quality team at Citi Mortgage in St. Louis. He is a U.S. Army captain serving as company commander with a local National Guard unit.

The couple is residing in St. Louis.
