Joseph Johnson, 29, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Rodney Sippel to 10 months in prison for possessing a firearm.

On Dec. 1, 2000, Johnson was in possession of a 12-gauge shotgun. Johnson told a Sikeston, Mo., police officer the gun was his and that he bought it for $100.

Johnson was previously convicted of first-degree property damage.
