The students, their parents, their teacher, Darlene Robertson, and Heller left for New York City Monday morning and will return tonight.

An assembly is planned for the authors at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The authors will be presented with a certificate and medal by Scholastic Books. Kennett native Sheryl Crow will be the featured speaker for the invitation-only event.

The students' book won Scholastic's Kids Are Authors contest and will be sold at Scholastic Book Fairs nationwide this fall. The book takes readers through the day after the terrorist attacks and what the students would do on an average day at school.
