The Missouri Division of Highway Safety, the Missouri Police Chief's Association and the Missouri Safety Center recently awarded the Cape Girardeau Police Department a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program grant of $2,500 to assist in a statewide effort to combat aggressive driving and increase seat belt use in Missouri.

Law enforcement agencies in 20 counties will participate in this grant program.

"During this statewide effort to eliminate hazardous driving behaviors, our officers will be more visible on the roads enforcing all traffic laws, but focusing on aggressive driving and promoting safety belt use," said police chief Steve Strong.
