ANNA, Ill. -- The funeral for John Earl Ligon of Anna will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. Dr. Dave Soucie will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
Ligon, 92, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at his home.
He was born May 2, 1910, in Anna, son of John H. and Birdie West Ligon. He and Ruby Jungers were married June 7, 1931.
Ligon became a preaching elder at First Christian Church in Anna, and was ordained at Shiloh Christian Church in Marion, Ill. He ministered 30 years at country churches in southern Illinois. He retired as co-owner and operator of Ligon Lumber Co.
He was a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Ligon of Anna, Jim Ligon of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a daughter, Jean Hall of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
