Esther Vivian Clayton, 96, of Desloge died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Parkland Health Center in Farmington, Mo.
She was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Oak Grove, Mo., daughter of Robert and Laura Waltrip Whitaker. She married Jack Clayton, who preceded her in death.
Clayton was a teacher 38 years in the Bootheel and in Sikeston, Mo., and Cape Girardeau. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Desloge, ADK, and Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Clay Whitener and Donna Penberthy; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters.
Friends may call at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the gazebo in Cape County Memorial Park. Dr. Jay White will officiate.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the cemetery.
