Cleo A. Hass, 81, of Cahokia, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill. He was born May 25, 1921, in Marmaduke, Ark., son of Lee and Vashti Trantham Hass. Cleo A. Hass, 81, of Cahokia, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

He was born May 25, 1921, in Marmaduke, Ark., son of Lee and Vashti Trantham Hass. He married the former Dorotha Baker.

Hass worked 33 years at H&H Machine Shop in St. Louis. He was a member of Cahokia Park United Methodist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, John Hass of Jonesboro, Ark., Dennis Hass of Cahokia; a daughter, Elaine Carlson of Jackson; a brother, Curtis Hass of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Amy Gardner of Jonesboro, Willyne Thompson of Marmaduke, Joan Conklin of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, and two brothers.

The funeral was held Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Marmaduke. Burial was in Harvey Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke.

Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia was in charge of arrangements.
