Jackson POW-MIA walk set for today

The POW-MIA Remembrance Walk will begin at Jackson City Park at 9 a.m. today and continue to the veterans memorial at Brookside Park.

The half-mile long walk is conducted annually to remember the men and women who suffered at the hands of our nation's enemies while protecting freedom.

A ceremony at 9:30 a.m. will include flag folding by the Air Force ROTC, a 21-gun salute and a speech by Lt. Col. Glenn P. Schneider with the U.S. Marine Corps League Detachment 1081. Taps will be played by Sarah Leuhrs and Steffen Troxel. V.F.W. Post 10495 Commander Harlan Siebert will be master of ceremonies. Grace Wille is the event coordinator.

Gaylord granted new judge, venue

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- After being assigned by the Missouri Supreme Court to hear the case of the Dexter, Mo., man accused of forging grain elevator documents, a Dunklin County judge has changed the venue of the case.

According to Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney Briney Welborn, the Missouri Supreme Court assigned Associated Circuit Judge John Beaton to hear Stanley Gaylord's case Tuesday.

Gaylord, who was the managing partner of Gaylord Grain LLC in Dexter, is charged with eight Class C felony counts of forgery and four Class C felony counts of stealing.
