Islamic Center prepares for Sunday open house

The Islamic Center of Cape Girardeau will host an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The event will highlight the role Muslims play in American society and will feature discussions about Islamic beliefs. There will be displays of Islamic books and a sampling of ethnic foods representing the fare from six different nations.

The event has been planned since early September, said Dr. Mohammad Shakil, president of the Islamic Center. "We are all pulling together," he said.

Gospel singing coming to Shiloh Baptist

Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill., will host a gospel singing at 7 p.m. Oct. 5, with New Horizons and the Gloryroad Travelers.

Bi-vocational workers revival scheduled Friday

Burfordville Baptist Church will host a revival Friday for bi-vocational pastors and their wives and church workers. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish meal. Service is at 7:30 p.m. For information, call E.D. Francis at 243-7566.

Homecoming planned at Scott City church

New Life Gospel Center in Scott City will host a homecoming celebration and fellowship Oct. 4 and 5. Events begin at 7 p.m. each evening.

Speaker will be Don Philips of Kansas City, Kan., who preached a revival here 46 years ago and was pastor of Randles Pentecostal Church.
