A Scott County man pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to two charges of distributing cocaine base. Charlie L. Smith, 34, of Haywood City, Mo., appeared before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel in Cape Girardeau. On April 10 and 20, Smith sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant in Scott County. He now faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $2 million fine on each count.
