PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Dr. L.B. Painter Jr., 81, of Portageville died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Knoxville, Tenn., son of Lattie B. and Florence Beach Painter Sr. He and Margaret Jack were married Dec. 4, 1948, in Knoxville.
Dr. Painter had a private practice in Portageville, where his brother is still practicing. He retired in 1989.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim (Divina) Painter of Overland, Kan., John Painter of Germantown, Tenn.; two daughters, Nancy (Brad) Richmond of Orlando, Fla., Karen Painter of Portageville; a brother, Dr. Andrew Painter of Portageville; a sister, Emmiline Ashford of Germantown; four grandchildren, Angela, Sarah and Lisa Richmond, and Mark Painter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville after 5 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church.
