Abernathy joins Eugene's salon

Lupe Abernathy has joined Eugene's Total Care Salon in Cape Girardeau. Abernathy had worked at Elan Day Spa before taking the job as nail technician for Eugene's. Abernathy, a Los Angeles native who moved to the area 10 years ago, has 20 years of nail experience.

Wachoski attends real estate seminar

Laurie Wachoski of Coldwell Banker Abernathy Realty of Jackson attended a seminar held by Hobbs Herder at Crown Plaza in St. Louis.

Hobbs Herder is a cutting-edge marketing and advertising firm based out of Newport Beach, Calif. Hobbs Herder has been teaching real estate agents the trends in marketing and advertising for 16 years.

The two-day seminar included ideas, principles and concepts that the company discovered based on thousands of hours of research in the field. Many of the methods they have developed have become standard in the real estate industry.

Magna-Tel hires customer relations rep

Supplier Magna-Tel, Inc. has recently announced the addition of Courtney Corbett as customer relations and sales representative. Corbett will be responsible for sales, product marketing, and customer base management, in addition to representing the company at industry trade shows.

As a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, Corbett has more than nine years of marketing experience and most recently served as the director of marketing for a local health care company.

Medical center names director of institute

St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau has named Robert Scheper as director of its Cancer Institute.

He will oversee the radiation oncology program, which will open in January.

Scheper studied at Southeast Missouri State University, in the radiology technology program at St. Francis and at the Mallinkrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis. He previously worked at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

New eye care center opens in Cape

Dr. Alan Branson has recently opened Eye Care for You at 1435 N. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.

Branson was associated with Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau for 10 years.

The new office offers vision examinations, contact lens services and eyeglass frames.

Branson is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry.

His practice also employs Elizabeth Johnson and Donna Shoemake.

Area resident named financial services agent

Jeremy Graves of Cape Girardeau has been named an agent for Country Insurance and Financial Services.

Graves is a 2001 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.

He recently completed the Country Co.'s new agent school, designed to help agents expand their knowledge about offerings to customers.

Graves' office is at 1200 N. Kingshighway, Suite 3.
