Southeast Missouri State University's Emily Scannell and Diana Poovey are this week's Ohio Valley Conference players of the week for volleyball and women's soccer, respectively.

Scannell, a junior setter, played a big role as the Otahkians picked up key conference wins over Murray State and Tennessee-Martin over the weekend. She had 82 assists, 17 digs, 14 kills and six blocks in the two victories.

The Otahkians (12-9, 7-2) remained in third place in the OVC but kept their championship hopes alive. Tennessee-Martin and Morehead State are tied for first at 9-1. Southeast has a key match Friday at Morehead State.

Poovey, a sophomore, scored two goals Friday as the Otahkians beat Morehead State 3-1.

Southeast (10-4-1, 3-0) is in first place in the OVC. The Otahkians host Austin Peay (0-9-3, 0-4-1) Friday night.-- From staff reports
