Second-seeded Jackson ended seventh-seeded Central's season wih a 15-8, 15-10 victory Monday in the first round of the Class 4, District 1 tournament at Jackson High School.

Jessi Koeper and Jenna Leet each led Jackson (22-9-2) with five kills. Linden Haas added two kills and seven digs while Molly Hartmann finished with two kills.

Central closed its season at 3-20.

In the opening game, fourth-seeded North County defeated fifth-seeded Hillsboro 8-15, 16-14, 15-7. Sixth-seeded Sikeston upset third-seeded Poplar Bluff 15-12, 9-15, 15-10.

Top-seeded Farmington will take on North County today in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Jackson will play Sikeston at 6:30 p.m. with the championship at 8 p.m.

Class 1, District 3

Oak Ridge defeated Chaffee (8-16) in a close first-round match 8-15, 15-12, 15-11. In the second game host Zalma downed Marquand with ease 15-3, 15-1.

Chaffee's Jennifer Vandeven had 13 digs and nine kills in the loss. Ashton Lee added eight points and Mallory Kiefer had nine points.

Semifinal play will be held today with top-seeded Leopold playing Oak Ridge at 6 p.m. Meadow Heights will play Zalma immediately after the first game with the championship to follow.

Class 1 District 2

Host Bell City (23-5) advanced to today's district final with a straight-set victory over Oran 15-10, 15-8.

Katie Niemczyk led Bell City with 15 kills and tallied nine service points. Whitney Abner put up 30 assists, Sarah Scherer had 16 digs and Andrea Wondell had 12 service points.

Oran's Teresa Hodges had eight kills and three blocks. Oran (12-16-3) made it to the semifinals by defeating Richland in the opening round in three games, 6-15, 15-3, 15-9.

Advance needed three games -- 15-8, 10-15, 15-4 -- to get past Bernie in the other semifinal. Bernie made it to the semifinals by cruising past Risco, 15-0, 15-2.

Advance (25-6-1) was led by Dana Williams, who had 11 kills and two blocks. Nicole Tropf also had a big game with 11 aces. Leslie Rainey finished with 11 assists.

Advance and Bell City will meet in the district final today at 7 p.m.

Class 2 District 2

Woodland (0-24) ended its dismal season with a loss to Twin Rivers Monday night 15-10, 15-4 in the opening round at Bloomfield High School.

Amanda Abner led Woodland with four digs and four assists. Stacie Greer had three kills and three digs.

In other matches, Bloomfield defeated Malden 15-11, 15-5, while Puxico stopped Charleston 15-7, 15-3.
