SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Margaret Burns, 69, of Sikeston died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at her daughter's residence in Rogersville, Mo. She was born June 24, 1933, in Sikeston, daughter of the late James Clifford and Edna Landers Counsil. She married James L. Burns Sr. April 6, 1949, in Sikeston. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1999...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Margaret Burns, 69, of Sikeston died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at her daughter's residence in Rogersville, Mo.

She was born June 24, 1933, in Sikeston, daughter of the late James Clifford and Edna Landers Counsil. She married James L. Burns Sr. April 6, 1949, in Sikeston. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Lenny Burns of Sikeston and Bob Burns of Lampe, Mo.; five daughters, Karen Cooksey of Matthews, Mo., Cheryl Finnerty of Allen, Texas, Terri Phillips of Lebanon, Va., Lisa Lee of Rogersville, and Beth Russell of Sikeston; three brothers, Jim Counsil of LeCanto, Fla., Earl Counsil of Rochelle, Ill., Charlie Counsil of Columbia, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel with Howard Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery.
