ND cheerleading squad heads to state event

The Notre Dame Regional High School cheerleader competition squad will compete in the state cheerleading championships Saturday at the Hearnes Center in Columbia.

The Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association (MCCA) and Missouri State High School Activities Association sponsor the event.

The competition squad of eight members finished third in Class 4A at the MCCA Regional Tournament held in early August at Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo.

New Salem falls in a pair at Southern Missouri

New Salem Baptist Academy's basketball teams were swept on the road at Southern Missouri Christian School.

The girls (1-1) fell 37-28, while the boys (2-1) lost 70-61.

Sarah Green had 17 points for the New Salem girls, and Johnathan Davault led the boys with 20.

David Green and Josiah Davault had 15 and 13 respectively for the boys.

Jackson eighth-grade teams sweep Central

Jackson won a pair of eighth-grade games Tuesday, holding Central to 11 points in both.

The A team (1-7) lost 44-11 and B team (2-4) lost 34-11.

Marnetta Parchman scored seven points for Central. Bailey Rust had four points.
