Designated driver is a good idea for resolution

As the new year approaches, there's no better time for resolutions to drink responsibly and abide by the basic rules of traffic safety, including using a designated driver when enjoying an event that involves drinking alcoholic beverages.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the number of drunken-driving deaths had decreased by more than a third since 1982. A recent nationwide poll conducted by Data Development Corp. shows that virtually all American adults believe designated drivers have been a factor. Maybe that's why the poll also shows that nine out of 10 adults think being or using a designated driver is a terrific New Year's resolution.
