Egyptian Elementary performs X-Files-style Christmas program

TAMMS, Ill. -- If you are a fan of "The X-Files" television show, then you probably would have enjoyed Egyptian Elementary's annual Christmas program, titled "The X Mas Files," this year.

Debra Coffman directed this sci-fi holiday musical held during the middle of December at Tamms.

The program featured fifth-graders Cory Tucker as Mistletoe, Crystal Caldwell as Holly, Alexa Miller as Ivy, Kennedy Hutson as Governor, Jennifer Honey as Press Secretary, Matthew Petermichel as Nerd 1, Kara Birk as Nerd 2, Jordan Oxford as Nerd 3, Jeremy Held as Conductor and Keawanna Houston as Carol Leader.

Additional cast members took on the roles of reporters, reindeer, elves, angels, carolers, and the stage and production crew.

Egyptian's annual program began with the school's Pre-Kindergarten Choir performing the following selections: "Jingle Bells," "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "The Angel Band."

The Kindergarten Choir followed with their version of "Up On The Housetop," "Jolly Old St. Nicholas," and "When Santa Claus Gets Your Letter."

First- and second-graders entertained the audience with "Angels Sing Hosanna," "Cosmic Carols" and "What's That In The Sky!"

Third- and fourth-graders helped bring the musical together by singing "What's That in The Sky?," "Reindeer Jive" and "Little Green Men."

During the program, Coffman expressed her gratitude to David Brown, the custodial staff and student assistants who built the stage, the high school chorus students who helped decorate it, and aide Kay Kaufman who put together the musical programs.

She extended her appreciation to those teachers who assisted her directly: Shirley Grundy, Becky Tucker, Kim Adams, Jane Hodges and Susan Loenneke.
