Southeast Missouri State University's gymnastics team finished third out of seven teams at Friday's Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Ind.

The Otahkians finished with a strong team score of 192.425, only a slight drop from Sunday's first home meet of the season. Central Michigan University won Friday's meet with 193.2 points, and host Ball State took second with a 192.975.

Ashley Godwin won the all-around competition with a score of 39.025. Godwin shined on the floor exercise, matching last meet's 9.9. Godwin bounced back from a disappointing beam exercise against Illinois State to score a 9.8. Godwin also led Southeast's bars scores with a 9.725 and tied Amy Cole for the top vault score with a 9.6.

Cole also had a strong bars performance with a 9.65, and tied with teammate Alexis Traylor for third in the floor exercise with a 9.825. Jacklyn Doebbler had a strong score on the balance beam with a 9.75.

In the all-around standings Tara Boldt finished fifth with a score of 38.375 right ahead of Cole who finished with 38.25 points.

Southeast finished tied for first in the floor exercise with a score of 48.95. Southeast finished third on the beam and fourth on the bars and vault.
