Elizabeth Ann Essner and Joshua Ree Penfield exchanged vows Aug. 3, 2002, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo. The Rev. Ron Hoye performed the ceremony. Pianist was Tim Depriest and soloist was Gina Lunyou, both of Cape Girardeau.
The bride is the daughter of John L. and Jill Essner of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Kenneth W. and Susan Miracle of Cape Girardeau.
Maid of honor was Sarah Essner of Austin, Texas, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Emily and Allison Essner of Cape Girardeau, sisters of the bride, and Casey Glueck of St. Louis.
Kenny Miracle of Cape Girardeau served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Troy Ellis of St. Louis, cousin of the groom; Justin Wooten of Jackson, and Brandon Buttrey of San Diego, Calif. Ushers were Andrew Essner of Cape Girardeau, brother of the bride; Norval Penfield of St. Louis, father of the groom; Donny Sparks of Sylvania, Ohio, uncle of the groom; and Nick Essner of Cape Girardeau, cousin of the bride.
Flower girl was Faith Essner, daughter of Alan and Denise Essner of Cape Girardeau and cousin of the bride. Ringbearer was Tyler Essner, son of Roger and Donna Essner of Cape Girardeau and cousin of the bride.
Candlelighters were Amanda Beussink, cousin of the bride, and Shana Ellis, cousin of the groom. Amanda is the daughter of Todd and Mary Beussink of Jackson. Shana is the daughter of Michael and Kelly Ellis of St. Louis.
Michael and Kelly Ellis attended the guest book.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at St. Augustine School gymnasium.
Kenneth and Susan Miracle hosted the rehearsal dinner Aug. 1 at Port Cape.
Mrs. Penfield expects to graduate in December from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in elementary education.
The groom is a graduate of Central High School. He is owner of Penfield Dental Arts and is an agent with ERA Cape Realty.
The couple resides in Cape Girardeau.
