Van Es - Wasson

Sarah Van Es and Shawn Wasson were married Oct. 6, 2007, at Bethany Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Sargent performed the ceremony. Music was by David and Beverly West of St. Louis.

The bride is the daughter of Jan Van Es of Cape Girardeau. The groom is the son of Mary Lewis of Jackson and David Wasson of Highland, Ill.

Matron of honor was Jennifer Jackson of Vienna, Ill., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Valery Wilson of Hurley, Mo., and Clarissa Noel of Springfield, Mo. Junior bridesmaid was Molly Myers of Zalma, Mo., cousin of the bride.

Hank Dillon of Fort Worth, Texas, was best man. Groomsmen were Terry Slade of St. Louis and Eric West of St. Charles, Mo. Ushers were Mark Van Es of Branson, Mo., brother of the bride, and Chris Jackson of Vienna, brother-in-law of the bride.

Michelle Myers of Zalma, cousin of the bride, was guest book attendant.

The groom's mother hosted the rehearsal dinner Oct. 5 at Jay's Smokehouse.

Mrs. Wasson is a 2000 graduate of Zalma High School. She received a bachelor's degree in history from College of the Ozarks in 2004, and is a nursing student at Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center.

The groom is a 1985 graduate of Ritenour High School. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1991, received a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1994, and received a doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., in 2005. He is the senior pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple is residing in Cape Girardeau.
