Dr. Robert and Diana Felker of Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Elizabeth Felker, to Matthias John Young. He is the son of the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey and Rebecca Young of Pleasant Hill, Mo.

Felker is a 2007 graduate of Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri in 2011. She is associate traffic engineer in Jefferson County, Colo.

Young is a 2006 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri in 2010. He is pursuing a doctorate in chemical engineering at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

A September wedding is planned in Jackson.
