Porter - Schaal

Don and Chris Porter of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Porter, to Ryan Schaal, both of Columbia, Mo. He is the son of Bob and Angie Schaal of Columbia.

Porter is a 2004 graduate of Central High School. She received a bachelor of occupational therapy degree in 2008, and a doctorate of physical therapy degree in 2011, both from the University of Missouri. She is a physical therapist at Cooper County Outpatient Therapy and Sports Medicine in Boonville, Mo.

Schaal is a 2004 graduate of Rockbridge High School in Columbia. He received a bachelor of health science degree from Graceland University in 2008, and a doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Missouri in 2011. He is a physical therapist at Missouri Orthopaedic Institute in Columbia.

An Aug. 4 wedding is planned.
