Rick and Shirley Riley of Kirksville, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Kent Riley, to Christopher Mathew McCrate, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is the son of Mike and Mary Kay McCrate of Jackson.

Riley is a graduate of Kirksville High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 2007, and a juris doctorate from the university's School of Law in 2010. She is a family law attorney with Gray, Stefani and Mitvalski, P.L.C., in Cedar Rapids.

McCrate is a graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri in 2008, and a master's degree in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M University in 2010. He is a systems engineer at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.

A June 23 wedding is planned at First United Methodist Church in Kirksville.
