PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Curt Russell of Farmington, Mo., and Dee Russell of St. Louis announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Suzanne Russell, to Matthew Wayne Schmidt, both of Chesterfield, Mo. He is the son of Larry and Brenda Schmidt of Perryville.

Russell is a 1994 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School. She received a bachelor's degree in social work from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998, and a master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2001. She is coordinator of the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program for the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Schmidt is a 1994 graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School. He received a business degree from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn., in 1999. He is a financial analyst with Morgan-Stanley in Clayton, Mo.

A May 31 wedding is planned at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
