Steven and Suzanne Smith of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Janet Rebecca Smith, to Matthew Kenton Anders. He is the son of Joe and Shannon Anders of Cape Girardeau.

Smith is a graduate of Central High School, and received a bachelor of science degree in dietetics from Southeast Missouri State University. She recently completed a nine-month dietetic internship through Murray State University, and is pursuing a master's degree in nutrition.

Anders is a graduate of Central High School, and received an associate of science degree in medical technology/respiratory therapy from Mineral Area College. He is a registered respiratory therapist at Saint Francis Medical Center.

A June 11 wedding is planned at Lynwood Baptist Church.
