Jerry and Cheryl Winiger of St. Clair, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Cheryl Lyann Thurman, to Charles Michael Ostendorf. He is the son of Donald and Rita Ostendorf of Scott City.

Thurman is a 1992 graduate of St. Clair High School. She is employed by Mid American Resorts in Washington, Mo.

Ostendorf is a 1992 graduate of Scott City High School. He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1997. He is employed by Von Weise Gear Co. in St. Clair.

A Sept. 13 wedding is planned.
