Fred and Bonita VanGennip of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Lynn VanGennip, to Matthew Thomas Pobst. He is the son of Mark and Becky Pobst of Cape Girardeau.

VanGennip is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in mass communication from Southeast Missouri State University in 2006. She is marketing coordinator with Big River Telephone Co.

Pobst is a 2002 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice and psychology from Southeast in 2006. He is a sales consultant with AT&T.

An Oct. 11 wedding is planned at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
