The films began arriving 2 months ago, with the return addresses ranging from Los Angeles, CA to Victoria, Australia. These films were screened alongside entries submitted by filmmakers in Cape Girardeau and Scott City. From among these, 15 films were selected to be shown in competition on November 12, 2004 at the Show-Me Digital Film Festival. The Cape Girardeau community is invited to sit alongside the filmmakers and enjoy a night of independent films from around the world.

The Film Festival was created by the Cape Filmmaker's Cooperative, a group dedicated to bringing film arts to Cape Girardeau and the Southeast Missouri region. The 200 members involved in the Co-op include everyone from actors and directors to cameramen and make-up artists. The Co-op was co-founded by Patrick Bond, head of Backwards Logic Productions, and Michael Huntington, head of Ultruistic Digipics, who met shortly after the March 2004 premiere of Bond's film, Dark Garden. After discussing their similar goals, they decided to join forces and form the Co-op as a meeting platform and essentially, a directory, of individuals in Southeast Missouri interested in film making.

Through the film festival, the Cape Filmmaker's Cooperative hopes to showcase the growing interest in film making in the region. The 15 short films which have been selected for the fest range from 2 minutes to 29 minutes in length, and the different genre's include horror, comedy, music videos and animation. The evening will also include a meet and greet with filmmakers shortly after the doors open and a surprise guest appearance that should not be missed.

Following the festival, festgoers 21 and up are invited to attend the after-party, which will be held at Breakaway's on Main St in Cape Girardeau. Live music will be provided by the Tone Def Allstars and free food will be available to those withtheir festival ticket. Come unwind with good food and good friends, the perfect ending to a night of good film.
