The Bank of America presented a rare historic 1891-era $5 bill from the First National Bank of Cape Girardeau to the Cape Girardeau Historical Society (Glenn House). David Glenn, the house's original owner, also was a founder and president of the bank. First National Bank was the first area bank to hold a national charter which allowed for the printing of local U.S. currency. The bill will be on display at the Glenn House. Presenting are Joleta Ludwig, Joshua Carter, Linda Ingram, John Janssen, Donna Grantham, Tom and Mary Lou Bass, Marge Janssen, Tom Grantham, Liz Hillier and Joyce Emmendorfer.
