Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau will open its doors between 9 and 11 a.m. today for the monthly Red Door Breakfast. The event is held on the third Saturday of each month. All are welcome.

Church offers service for those feeling blue

Centenary Methodist United Methodist Church will offer a "Blue" Christmas service on the longest night of the year, the winter solstice, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. at the Family Life Center. "Blue" Christmas is a recognition that not all may feel joyful due to the death of a loved one, loss of a relationship, divorce, separation, etc.

Christmas pageant at Fruitland this weekend

The Fruitland Community Children's Christmas pageant will be presented at 6:30 p.m. today and Sunday at Fruitland Community Church, 6040 U.S. 61 in Fruitland. Admission is free, and everyone is invited to see the story of the Nativity presented by children.

Ministry to help Moshiri family with benefit

The Rock International Ministries, 127 W. Main St. in Jackson, will hold a benefit service at 3 p.m. today to assist the Moshiri family in Jackson. Katherine and her 2-year-old daughter are survivors from the murder-suicide that happened Dec. 3. The family has no medical insurance or burial insurance to bury their son and daughter. "God has put it on my heart to hold a special benefit service," said the Rev. Thomas D. White. Anyone who cannot come may send donations by mail to P.O. Box 1208, Cape Girardeau, Mo. 63702-1208.

Harmony Churchpresents 'Just Believe'

Harmony Church will be presenting its program "Just Believe" at 6 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served after the program. Harmony is six miles east of Marble Hill, Mo., on Highway 34. Everyone is welcome.

Christ Episcopal to hold annual festival Sunday

Christ Episcopal Church in downtown Cape Girardeau will hold its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent. The service preparing for the coming of Christmas was started by King's College in Cambridge, England. Dr. Steve Hendricks will lead the chancel choir and congregation, Hays Hendricks will play violin and Mary Van Hoet Miller will play the organ. The public is invited.

Events scheduled for First Baptist Church

At the 10:45 a.m. service Sunday, "The Music of Christmas" will be presented by the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church. At 4 p.m., the Sanctuary Choir will present a music program at Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City.

At 11 a.m. Monday, the Young @ Heart meeting will be held with Christmas music by Tim DePriest.

At 4 p.m. Christmas Eve, everyone is welcome to come to the service.

Calvary United putting on Christmas play

"The Christmas Family" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served after the event. For more information, call 243-8357 or visit www.calvaryupcjacksonmo.com.

Wesley United offers 'Home for Christmas'
