The Town and Country FCE club met Thursday, July 18, at the University of Missouri Extension Center on the lower level for its annual picnic. There were 23 people in attendance. Brooke Thompson gave the prayer before the meal. The club purchased fried chicken from Food Giant in Cape Girardeau for the entrée. Members supplied side dishes and table service for members and their invited guests. Brenda Pender and Lois Seabaugh were in charge of arrangements for the event.

After the meal, the group played bingo with Wes Kinsey being the caller for the games. Several nice prizes were won by the winners of each game.

A brief business meeting was held with Sue Jones presiding at the absence of the president, Mary Klaproth. The minutes from the June meeting were read by Jones and the treasures report was read by Linda Thompson. Both reports were approved as read. Pennies for Rural Women will be collected in the month of August at the next regular meeting.

Jones read a letter from Acees Convenience store for the Pay at the Pump program in the month of June. The club received a portion of the sales from pumps 1 and 2. This money will be used for the club's community projects that it sponsor throughout the year. A thank-you note and a picture of club members was emailed to Acees by Jones, secretary.

It was announced that a National FCE Conference was to be held, Thursday, July 25, through Sunday, July 28, in Erlanger, Kentucky. Klaproth planned to attend.

Club out will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 3, at Rosetti’s Pizza in Town Plaza at Cape Girardeau.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the home of Brenda Pender. The program will be given by Darlene McCain titled “Know when to say no.”
