PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Contemporary Christian musician Josh Wilson will perform at the First Baptist Church of Perryville later this month.

Wilson is best known for his hits "I Refuse" and "Before the Morning," both Top 5 radio singles, according to his manager, Chris Nichols.

Wilson will perform at 7 p.m. July 28 at the First Baptist Church of Perryville.

"You can pre-order tickets or pay at the door, but I recommend you pre-order," said Bonny Cail, secretary at the First Baptist Church. "They're going awfully fast."

Originally from Lubbock, Texas, Wilson now lives in Nashville and is signed with Sparrow Records/EMI-CMG. Wilson has toured full-time for the last four years, including tours with Steven Curtis Chapman, Matthew West and Sidewalk Prophets, all contemporary Christian artists.

Wilson's instrumental version of "Amazing Grace" is a popular moment in all his live shows, Nichols said.

"Most people have music in common, so Christian concerts are a great way to share that love for music along with a positive message," said Chris Smith, youth pastor at the First Baptist Church. "They're a very nonthreatening way to spread the message."

Smith said the church has previously hosted The Fallen, a local contemporary Christian band from Festus, Mo.; however, the Wilson concert will be the church's first big-name concert. All proceeds will go to International Crisis Aid Heartland, Smith said. ICA Heartland is a St. Louis-based, not-for-profit, Christian relief organization dedicated to ending human trafficking.

Smith said his wife is involved with the organization and said the organization seemed like a great place for the money to go to.

"It's a good cause in dire need of more support," Smith said.

Tickets cost $10 each and can be reserved either by phone at 573-547-4644 or online at fbcperryville.net.
