Fall festival, dinner set

St. Joseph Parish of Apple Creek in Perryville, Mo., is hosting a dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Serving includes pork sausage, backbone and sauerkraut, chicken dumplings with all of the trimmings and homemade pies. Adults are $9, and children 6 to 12 are $4.

CASA to begin training classes

Court Appointed Special Advocates are private citizens who are trained to work with the system to help fulfill society's most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child's right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family. CASA of Southeast Missouri will begin a new training class for volunteers in Cape Girardeau from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 11 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 12. Holiday bazaar scheduled Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 N. Ellis St., will host a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12. A lunch of grilled sandwiches, homemade soup and salad will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items for purchase will include homemade casseroles and baked goods, glazed pumpkins, gift items, books, vintage jewelry, Christmas sweaters, and handcrafted items. The public is invited. All proceeds will help fund the church's mission projects.

Barbecue to help Safe House

The Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church, 1289 Lexington Ave. in Cape Girardeau, will host a benefit barbecue for the Cape Girardeau Safe House for Women at noon Saturday. The meal will include hot dogs, hamburgers or other choice of meat with a side dish, drink and dessert for $4.
