River City Players to hold auditions

The River City Players will be holding auditions for its next show, "Getting Sara Married," from 2 to 4 p.m. July 19 at Port Cape. The play calls for three males and three females. No preparations are necessary; the auditions will be a cold reading.

Mingo Swamp Photo Contest deadline approaching

The deadline for the fourth annual Mingo Swamp Photo Contest is Wednesday. The contest is open to nature photos featuring animals, landscapes or plants. There is an adult and youth division, and awards will be given in several categories. A maximum of three photos per person may be submitted, with a total entry fee of $5. Entries should be unmatted and unframed and sent to the to the Mingo National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center, 24279 Highway 51, Puxico, MO 63960, in care of park ranger Virgil Harp.

Nussbaum reunion and covered dish dinner in July

The annual Nussbaum and covered dish dinner will be held on Sunday, July 26 at the church hall at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, Missouri. The meal will begin at 12:30 p.m. and bingo with prizes will follow at about 2 p.m. Those who attend are encouraged to bring bingo prizes, table games, cards or outdoor games.
