Members of the Cape Girardeau Kiwanis Club presented checks for $2,100 to Jeff Cunningham to be used toward the construction of Melaina's Magical playground in Cape Girardeau. The playground was inspired by Melaina, daughter of Jeff and Andrea Cunningham. Melaina's disease, nemaline myopathy, made it difficult for her to play at many of the city's playgrounds. As a result, the Cunninghams decided to build an all-inclusive and fully accessible playground for all children to enjoy. Funds donated will be used to build a playground that will allow children with and without disabilities to meet and play together.
