Several local students were awarded scholarsips to attend Southeast Missouri State University:

Marianna Below of Cape Girardeau was awarded the Residence Life Leadership Award. Below is the daughter of Tim and Meghan Below of Cape Girardeau and will be a 2017 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Nicole Lawson of Jackson was awarded the Residence Life Leadership Award. Lawson is the daughter of Art and Jeanette Lawson and will be a 2017 graduate of Jackson High School. Ashley Nussbaum of Leopold, Missouri, was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. Nussbaum is the daughter of Larry and Connie Nussbaum of Leopold and will be a 2017 graduate of Leopold High School. Michael Smith of Jackson was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. Smith is the son of Jimmy and Angela Smith of Jackson and will be a 2017 graduate of Jackson High School. Alana Hon of Jackson was awarded the Residence Life Leadership Award. Hon is the daughter of Keith and Tina Hon of Jackson and will be a 2017 graduate of Jackson High School. Morgan Stone of Jackson was awarded the University Scholarship. Stone is the daughter of Tim and Becky Stone of Jackson and will be a 2017 graduate of Jackson High School. Faith Essner of Cape Girardeau was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. Essner is the daughter of Alan and Denise Essner of Cape Girardeau and will be a 2017 graduate of Notre Dame High School.
